Delegation Leaves for Haiti Next Week!

July 28, 2010

Representatives of the I Have a Dream Foundation Hinche Scholars Project are heading to Haiti on Tuesday August 3rd for a five day “business trip,” which will hopefully solidify some of the logistics in advance of the students’ arrival this fall.

We are hoping to come closer to our fundraising goal in these final days before their departure, so please consider helping us in any way you can. We are in great need of monetary donations to cover the tuition, room, board, and medical expenses for the Hinche Scholars who will attend Barber-Scotia this fall, as soon as their visas are approved!

Universite St. Gerard - where several of the Hinche Scholars were attending school before the eartquake struck - we will be visiting sites such as these, so be sure to check back for video and pictures from the trip

If you have already donated – THANK YOU! Please be sure to share our mission and our website with your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers. Only through a broad-based community effort can we succeed!

Be sure to check back later next week for pictures, video, and updates upon our return. Also we have the honor of being joined by two journalists on this trip. Chris Dovi of Richmond Magazine is accompanying us with the goal of documenting our project and sharing it with the broader community. We are so grateful for Chris’ interest and for Richmond Magazine’s dedication and support. Internet permitting, Chris will attempt to post daily updates at http://www.richmondmagazine.com.

Thanks also to Zach Reid of the Times Dispatch who will be joining us and whose research on Haiti, six months after the quake, will soon be posted at www.timesdispatch.com
