YOU can help Haitian university students!

April 10, 2010

Four months from now, we hope that our six Haitian university friends will be here in the U.S., preparing for their classes at Barber-Scotia College. This morning I had a chance to speak with some of the students. Once again their names are:
– Suze Prince
– Frandy Prince
– Samuel Prince
– Jocelyn Phanord
– Barbara Joseph
– Lude Labieville
They are doing quite well, studying English, helping out at home, and volunteering as English-Kreyol translators for various medical missions.

As shown by this high school diploma, all 6 of the students we are working with are high acheiving, high school grads who were in university at the time of the quake. With your help, they can continue their studies in the U.S. and return to give back to Haiti.

Below is a list of our most pressing needs. Please share them with your friends and family. Also, we’ve created a facebook page “Hinche Relief.” Please join or “friend” that and share it with everyone you know.

Our current needs:
– Monetary donations: we need to raise $30,000 to cover the food, room and board, and other expenses not included in the students’ scholarships
– Material goods: clothing, school supplies, laptops, dorm room necessities, etc.
– Other needs: health insurance, publicity/media, airfare, etc.
