Plans Discussed for a University in Hinche

January 30, 2010

Listening to RadioHinche tonight, I heard that Haitian government is throwing around the idea of a creating a university in Hinche for displaced PAP college kids. This plan is just one part of the long-term goal of rebuilding Haiti with the idea of sizing down the capital and increasing the autonomy of each department (province).

Tomorrow, I’ll ask Pere Bourdeau his thoughts on the subject. Currently Hinche only offers education through the high school level. Hinche currently houses a law school – l’Ecole de Droit – where Pere Etienne, Delile, and others take evening classes. Monsignor Jethro is also a professor at this facility, however it is still not what we in the U.S. would consider a law school.
