Committee’s Focus on Immediate Aid for Hinche

January 22, 2010

Immediate aid for the people of Hinche. That was the consensus from last night’s meeting of the St.Bridget-Cathedral joint Haiti committee. The group welcomed several new members as well as the four travellers who returned from Haiti on Monday. We will be maintaining daily contact with Pere Bourdeau and others on the ground at Sacre Coeur, in order to solicit the most pressing needs and attempt to fulfill those requests – by wiring money, physically bringing in supplies, and partnering with St. Monica’s to support their medical efforts.

Every corner of Haiti is feeling the devastation of this earthquake. Today RadioHinche announced the pull out of search/rescue crews from PAP and the shift to stabilisation efforts. Our goal is to be an integral part of those plans, by working hand in hand with the Diocese of Hinche. With your help (see sidebar for checks/mailing address), we can work to mitigate the aftermath and help Pere Bourdeau prevent violence, starvation, and medical crises.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers. Keep in mind the children of Hinche, pictured below before the quake. Now that schools are closed, many of these kids have not eaten full meals for 9 days!
